Checking In

I went to the Frisco Rough Rider game with Justin August 31 and we talked about the blog. I guess I should post by more often. I usually read those that I have access to ( can't get to Trey's anymore). We had a great time at the game. If you get a chance, get to the ball park in Frisco. We also talked about making a Fort Worth Cats game next season. Hey maybe we could make it to the Air Hogs game in Grand Prairie as well.
Eli is growing like a weed. I got to see him crawl for the first time. Work is going well. We should be in our new (to us) office space in a couple of weeks. I am having knee surgery Sept 5th. If all goes as they said, it should be good as new in a couple of weeks.
( Did I mention Justin really has a problem with HOV lanes? lol)
Donny, Troy, and I went to the WR ordeal. We built a new primitive campsite (with the help of a clan). It will be set up to allow troops to practice Philmont style camping. Sump ( bring your own sump thing), fire rind, and bear cables. Should be a great help if people will use it.
On our way back to the parking lot, Donny and I stopped and visited my vigil site. If was a great feeling. It brought back some great feelings.
Dallas is doing well. He has had surgery on one eye and is seeing things he has not seen in years. They are suppose to do the other eye in the near future.
I hope things are going well for everyone. Keep in touch. I have plans to post more often.

My New Job

I must tell you that while my new job as Elections Administrator for Wise County has 'allowed' me to work many hours, it was really great on election night everything went off without any major hitches. We followed that up with someone requesting a recount that also went perfectly. Following that with runoff elections and that will be followed with the first ever city and school elections that will be held by Wise County. Nothing like jumping into the fire.lol. I look forward to calmer times. Wait....When will that be. I have to find a temporary building to get all my employees in one office rather than two....Work with the county officials to get a permanent location for our office. Find and get government approval for a new polling location...And all this in short order so we can get ready for the November Election..lol. Did I say down time? All that said i am enjoying the challenge of building a completely new department for the counties. New challenges can be good.

My excuse for not blogging for a while

I know it is no excuse, but things have been crazy. You all know about the birth of my first grandson....That took up some time.....Keeping up with Mr. Collever has been a chore as well. He is currently doing well in an assisted living/rehab center. I was actively looking for a new job ( even had an interview lined up with CITIBANK) when the person the county hired as Election Administrator quit after two months on the job. Good news I got the position.....Bad news...It was 15 days before early voting started. I did not go into an established department. We are building it as we complete the election process. I still have not had time to train someone to do the job I held before I took the new position ( so I am doing that job before and after I do the elections work). Have been many 12-14 hour days with some Saturdays and Sundays. Usually always bring some work home. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train.lol
From what I have read on other blogs it appears life is full for many of us. Hope to post more regularly in the future. Looking forward to going to Scott's wedding and seeing those that are going to be there.

What A Year so far

This has been a year that I hope I will not soon forget ( at my age that is my hope all the time lol). In no particular order of importance.....I graduated college with honors (fulfilling a lifelong dream). I have seen Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, and the Grand Ole Opry. I went to Phoenix Arizona and walked across the stage to be recognized for completing my degree (another lifelong dream). I watched my oldest son get married (not sure I would ever see this lol). I watched my wife body surf ( involuntarily...lol). I found out I am going to be a grandpa! Heard I might be called POPS. And I was recently surprised when I was awarded the Vigil Honor in the Order of the Arrow. It seems that almost everyone in the Troop and most of my other scouting friends knew, but I had no idea. I was and am humbled by the award. It is truly a great feeling to recognized by others. I am not sure how a year can be much better, but we still have a few months.. I have been blessed this year for sure. My thanks to all that have been a part of my life and shared in the many experiences that have made me what I am...Is there a pool to guess what happens next? Green neckerchiefs as standard uniform for the billy goats that used to be green bar members? Time will tell....

Been a while

Well it has been a while since I wrote anything. Work, scouts, and home after completing my degree has taken up most of my time. Dallas Collever has also taken many hours to keep up with his location and how he is feeling. I tried to post on Justin's blog and it will not let me so I guess I got the boot. I notice I am not in his 'Gangs all here' list. lol Mr. Allen sends his best to everyone. I am back full time with the troop, trying to get it restarted in the right direction. We are back to having a program every week. lol. We had a court of honor for the first time since I left to complete my degree. We also had a planning session for the first time since I left as well. The scouts were wondering what COH and planning sessions were since no youth in the troop had been to one. The new DE hopes to start a pack at the church....That will help. Wish me luck with keeping our troop alive....BTW Donny ask if we were going to have the first female to learn the troop handshake when Justin and Holly have their baby......Told him I was not sure. lol

Thing that makes me go hmmm.

I was wondering is anyone else has noticed that inanimate objects such as cars, computers, or household appliances seem to know when you have a little extra cash. We got out income tax return and since then we have had to replace a battery, tire, radiator, fuel pump, power steering hose, and probably the washer. ( I am going to take a week for Twin Arrows and all the Billy Goats know what happens when I take off for Boy Scouts lol). I think Justin and Holly just got some financial news and had to have their refrigerator worked on. Just one of those things that make me go hmmm... (among other thoughts lol)

Stuff

Well, I am surprised I am not on "The List" that Justin has for not blogging. The holidays went well, but unfortunately we lost Papa John. Dallas is still doing well. My oldest son and his bride to be moved into their new home. The state implemented a new program at work that doesn't work correctly (government in action) and we haven't stated the next project at the home yet. I have cut a lot of wood for mother in law and us to burn. I also found time to take tax classes and am working for H & R Block after my real job. I also found time to test out of my last class!!!! I am unofficially an 'official' college graduate. It will take a couple of weeks for the college to get the score, but after that I will apply for my diploma. We are already making plans to go to Phoenix on July 6th so I can walk!!!!! I guess better late than never on the degree. Working of the resume. Never know what doors the degree might open. Well that is the condensed version of the last three months.lol. No that school is over I may have my life back. Will try to get around this blog thing more often. I hope this finds everyone doing well.
